Godliness With Contentment Is A Great Gain
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” I Timothy 6:6-10.
What is Contentment?
A dictionary put it this way “the state of being mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are.”I know that many of us will have multiple
”I am going for fishing”
It can also be related to that of Nigeria vice president pastor in the villa Yemi Osibanjo that went back to fishing.
The only
PENTECOSTAL FELLOWSHIP ARE CONSTANTLY RUINING MANY CHRISTIANS LIVES.
Today, it is rare that you find anyone who is genuinely content with his or her condition in life.
The worse part of it is that many places people are calling Redemption Camps are the Destruction camps. Why? They are the instigator and motivator of non contented lifestyle.
The Bible has a great deal to say about contentment—being satisfied with what we have, who we are, and where we’re going.
Jesus said, ”Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Matthew 6:25).
Many of the Pentecostal Churches Pastors like, Adeboye in Nigeria and Mike Murdoch in the United state of America are not only worried About their Private jets, Latest Camaro, or largest Redemption camps; But they are throwing many of their listeners into constant worry mode to achieve their covetousness
Why are many Christians not contented with what they have?
1. Many modern day Churches are always teaching people the practical ways of accumulation, how to get wealth that many of are not getting. And the continually teaching them how not to be contented by sowing their lives to them.
How? By introducing to them another way that is different to Jesus Christ prescription in Matthew 6:29-34.
“Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
2. Another reason and probably maybe the main reason many are not contented is worries of what the general overseers will think about me. Worry, not to talk of worrying about one general overseer will always make you walk contrary to God will.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
3. More reason why many people are not contented is covetousness or too much emphasis on the worldly way of prosperity.
Selfishness and covetousness is the root cause of the love of money. When you have too much love for money to the extent, you don’t think of what will be the effect on your neighbor or calling. That is known selfishness, and living life of contentment will be far away from such, regardless of your background or Religious affiliations.
Hebrews 13:5-6 says Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
The love of money will automatically take the fear of God away from you. You will not care if your neighbor dies as long as you get rich and fulfill your pledge to a Church that is fine with you.
The love of money will cause you to be deceptive or think that you’re smart.
The love of money will cause you to be digging your grave unknowingly.
The love of money will not allow you to identify evil and stand in the gap.
As a Christian, the love of money may take eternity away from you.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:23.
In conclusion, Let us study the life of Hamman in the book of Esther 3:1. Upon everything he got, still, he was not satisfied.
I pray that you will not allow the love of money couple with your General Overseers and Bishops Pressure cause you to miss the eternity in Jesus name.
AMEN!
